DCSM News: Denka Group Chairman Visited DCSM

30 September 2025

We are pleased to share that on 30th September 2025, DCSM had the distinct honor of welcoming Mr. Toshio Imai, Chairman of the Board of Denka Group, Denka Company Limited, to our plant in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

This visit was particularly meaningful as it marked his very first trip to DCSM, made specifically to fulfill a personal promise to the DCSM Managing Director to visit our facility. Upon his arrival, Mr. Imai was warmly received with the rhythmic beat of the traditional Kompang (Malay drum), followed by the presentation of a Malai (Indian woven floral garland), and a festive parade of Tanglung (Chinese lanterns) leading to the main office entrance, where a group photo session was held. The warm welcome continued with a formal reception ceremony in the conference room.

During the event, Mr. Imai delivered a keynote address in which he expressed his aspirations for DCSM’s future growth and reaffirmed its vital role in the Southeast Asia market. He emphasized DCSM’s importance in supporting Denka Japan through the local production of specialized construction products. He also highlighted Denka’s three core values namely 'Initiative’, ‘Integrity’, and ‘Empathy’, stating that each value is essential and interconnected in guiding the company toward achieving its mission and vision. Furthermore, he underscored that these values play a key role in creating safe working conditions, which remain one of the top priorities in Denka’s operational practices.

Following his address, two Heads of Department, Market Development and Continuous Improvement, presented the company’s recent achievements and ongoing initiatives. A short Q&A session then followed, where members of the Sales Department engaged directly with Mr. Imai, asking insightful questions about his personal inspirations, leadership journey, and approach to managing people.

To mark the occasion, Mr. Imai was presented with a commemorative plaque featuring Malaysia’s national flower, the hibiscus, alongside a traditional Songket motif. The plaque was presented by Ms. Nursyuhada Idayu, proudly representing the Malaysian team at DCSM.

After the ceremony, the Chairman proceeded to the production area, where he officially inaugurated DCSM’s latest dust collector system. Installed to replace the previous unit, the new system reflects DCSM’s continued commitment to complying with indoor air quality regulations and enhancing workplace health and safety. Mr. Imai then toured the plant, led by Mr. Makoto Shoji, DCSM General Manager of Operations and Technical, together with the DCSM delegation.

With over 43 years of dedicated service to Denka, Mr. Imai continues to lead the company with vision and commitment. In April 2025, he was appointed Chairman and Representative Director, following his previous role as President and Chief Executive Officer. Before departing Malaysia, he expressed his heartfelt appreciation through the DCSM Managing Director, noting how deeply moved he was by the warm, diverse, and heartfelt welcome, an experience that beautifully reflected Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

DCSM deeply appreciates the Chairman’s willingness to visit and hopes his inspiring presence will encourage all employees to continue working diligently and contributing to the company’s future success.
