21 July 2025
On 21–22 July 2025, DCSM proudly conducted an in-house training session on Internal Audit for ISO 45001:2018 as part of our ongoing journey to strengthen and elevate our Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS). This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. The two-day programme brought together 18 participants, comprising 8 dedicated internal auditors, Heads of Departments, and key representatives from relevant roles. We were privileged to learn from the distinguished Ts. Khairuddin Bin Hairan, a highly respected Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) expert and certified Lead Auditor for ISO 45001:2018. His deep knowledge, engaging delivery, and practical approach provided invaluable insights that resonated strongly with participants. The training was carefully tailored to reflect DCSM’s operational environment, equipping our internal auditors with the skills to conduct audits with precision, depth, and confidence. It offered participants a comprehensive understanding of the ISO 45001:2018 standards, as well as the tools needed to drive continuous improvement in workplace safety. The sessions were highly interactive, featuring not only structured lectures and notes but also quizzes, group discussions, and real-life accident case studies. A series of impactful accident videos were also shown, offering vivid visualizations to raise awareness, reinforce caution, and instill a stronger sense of vigilance in day-to-day workplace practices. To further engage participants, interactive quiz sessions were conducted, and three winners were awarded cash prizes for their outstanding performance during entire training session. This training holds particular significance for DCSM, as we first achieved our ISO 45001:2018 certification in December 2024. The purpose of the programme extended beyond preparing internal auditors for upcoming external audits, it also aimed to educate all relevant Persons-in-Charge (PICs) on their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). By strengthening knowledge and competencies across all functions, we move closer to our ultimate goal of eliminating or minimizing workplace risks and preventing accidents before they occur. The success of this training underscores DCSM’s belief that safety is not just a compliance requirement but a core value embedded in our daily operations. We are confident that the lessons learned, and best practices shared during these two days will empower our teams to maintain the highest standards of occupational health and safety while fostering a culture of shared responsibility and continuous improvement. As we look ahead, DCSM remains steadfast in our commitment to safety excellence, ensuring that every employee returns home safe and healthy at the end of each day.
